Flares Dropped

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Nearly two weeks after UFOs were reported over Stephenville, the U.S. military has offered an explanation as to the source of the mysterious lights.

Maj. Karl Lewis, a spokesman for the 301st Fighter Wing at the Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base, said in a news release that an "error was made regarding the reported training activity of military aircraft" and that "10 F-16s from the 457th Fighter Squadron were performing training operations in the Brownwood Military Operating Area."

Lewis had previously said there were no F-16s or other aircraft from the base in the area the night many of the sightings were reported.

Officials now report the aircraft were airborne from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. January 8 in the MOA, which is an area designated for military training, and in this case includes airspace above Erath County.

On Saturday, interviewers with the Mutual UFO Network met with about 200 people who said they saw something mysterious in the night skies over Stephenville in late December and early January. Witnesses have described the object as silent, large and with bright lights flying low and fast.

Several witnesses also reported seeing fighter jets chasing the object.

James Huse, a retired electronics technician, said what he saw on Jan. 8 was neither a helicopter nor a plane while pilot Steve Allen, of Glen Rose, said the lights he saw while sitting around a campfire were brighter than the glare from welding.

"The first time we saw it, the duration was three minutes; then it started slowing down and passed us, and the lights in the back reformed into an arc shape, and they would flash on and off with no particular pattern," he said. "Then those changed into two vertical lines. It was totally silent."

  1. I do not believe the AF explanation at all! Number 1: How can they say "we had nothing in the air" and then all of a sudden say "oops, we forgot about the TEN F-16 Fighters on a training mission"? Number 2: F-16's don't hover and you certainly are aware when they are around, it's not like they're quiet. Number 3: One of the eyewitnesses was a PILOT, don't you think he'd know if it was one of OUR aircraft or not? Since when did the Air Force and Armed Services think the general public were all idiots? Give those of us who are well educated some credit and don't come back some 10 days later and say "oops, we didn't think you meant ANY and ALL aircraft ... my bad"

  2. It is pathetic that after 61 years the military and world governments continue to "dumb down" society as a whole regarding not only the reality of UFO's. ET civilizations trillions of years ahead of our own "technology", but also the real truths regarding Man's actual origins and relationships to these civilizations, and our own place in the cosmos. It is an insult that any little group of world or national leaders past or present have thus far not answered to these serious coverups they have perpetrated and are contining to perpetrate. We are now able to deal with the facts that "God" may be an entirely different meaning and concept from what we were taught. It's time to get over our archaic thinking, deal with the new realities, move forward and learn. Meanwhile it is also time to bring all of those involved in this suppression of information for decades and make them accountavle to all the laws they broke!

  3. So the air force two weeks after the fact comes up with the same cookie cutter explanation?
So 30+ witnesses that have lived there all their lives and are familiar with what is normally in the skies, all had the same mass hallucination....they saw a mile long ufo........and they were all wrong? I don't think so. When a ship a mile wide takes 5 minutes to pass over a house witnessed by the lady who lives in the house, how can that be mistaken for 10 jets? Are these the new silent mile wide F16's?
It's appalling to tell this lie, it's appalling to disrespect the 30+ citizen eye witnesses, and ridicule them.
Truth will out, and the airforce is lying.
No matter, we are all kids, we don't see what we see, our goevernemt and military always tell us the truth.......right?
There are so many sightings and lots more to come, they will deny and deny, but the day is coming when they won't be able too, and when that day comes they will all be held up to account and be shown to be the liers they always were.
In the end we the people will have truth.
